By visiting the Mr Baker’s Cake School website and/or purchasing something from us, you engage in our service and agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions. These Terms & Conditions apply to all users of our website and visitors to Mr Baker’s Cake School.

Please ensure you have read these Terms & Conditions carefully before accessing or using our website, and booking your class or experience day. By accessing or using any part of this website, you agree to be bound by our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to all the Terms & Conditions of this agreement, we would recommend not visiting/using our website and/or services

From time to time it may be necessary to amend these terms and conditions without prior notice and this will be at our sole discretion.

Location

Most of my classes take place at my beautifully refurbished baking academy, Mr Baker’s Cake School in Fareham, Hampshire.

The school is located in the Kiln Acre Business Centre in the town of Fareham, close to the M27 motorway. If driving to your class, exit at junction 11 towards Fareham Central. At the roundabout, take the exit onto the A27 towards Fareham before bearing left towards Portchester, Wickham and Fareham Town Centre. At the Delme Roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Wallington Way before crossing the roundabout (first exit) outside Sainsbury’s. At the Wickham Road Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Wickham Road and the Kiln Acre Business Centre will be on your left in around 500yds.

If travelling by train, alight at Fareham Train Station. You can find walking directions at this link (https://goo.gl/maps/Lu2wrSsGCTGd2wBn8) or you may wish to take advantage of the taxi rank at the station. The address for the taxi driver is Kiln Acre Business Centre, Wickham Road PO16 7JS.

Booking a Class

Just add the class you would like to book to your basket and then click on the shopping cart icon when you are ready to check out. You will then be taken to the secure payment page, where you can choose to pay via PayPal or to make a debit or credit card payment via Stripe. Please ensure you check the transaction amount before processing your payment, as we will not be held responsible for any charges that your bank may charge you as a result of this transaction.

You will then receive a confirmation email (make sure you check your ‘junk’ folder if this has not arrived after a few minutes) with all the details of your booking and any additional information you may need before attending the school on the day of your class.

If the class you are interested in is sold out, please send us an email as me may be able to offer you an alternative date for the same class.

All ingredients, equipment and even an apron will be provided for you to use during your class, you simply need to bring yourself, a notepad and pen if you would like to make notes, and a packed lunch, if your class will last the entire day. Basic refreshments will be provided during most classes.

Please note: when booking your child onto a class where they will be left in the sole care of Mr Baker’s Cake School, you will need to complete the Initial Registration Form and if applicable, the Permission to Administer Medicine form in advance of the first session.

If booking a class for someone else (e.g. as a gift), please advise that this is a gift/ purchase for someone else in the notes section while completing your payment. Please ensure you include the name of the class attendee, otherwise entry to the class may be denied.

Parental Responsibility

During classes and experiences where parents/carers will be attending with their child (e.g. Babies & Buttercream sessions), your child will remain your sole responsibility.

Minimum Age

For children’s classes, where the parents are also in attendance and remain solely responsible for their children, there is no minimum age.

For children’s classes where the children will be left in the sole care of Mr Baker’s Cake School, children must be at least five years old.

For adult classes, all attendees must be over the age of 18.

Cancellation Policy

Should you decide to purchase an ‘in person’ class, course, private lesson or gift voucher from this site, then you will enter into a contract of sale with us at the point of sale. If you change your mind about purchasing you are entitled to a refund for the 14 days following the purchase. Should your course or programme start within that 14-day period and you decide to cancel, then you will be provided a refund. However, the amount of any course sessions or value received will be deducted from your refund. Deductions will be calculated on a pro-rata basis. Please see individual course description for terms that affect deposits and unpaid balances.

If you make an electronic purchase then you will be sent a link for a direct download or a link to the online course. At the point of purchase, you will be asked to confirm your express consent to receiving the download immediately. In agreeing to receive the download at the point of purchase, you will lose your right to cancel and your right to a refund. Please see individual class listings. All refunds are provided in accordance with your statutory rights. It is always our aim that you will be fully satisfied with your purchase. Should you have any questions about your purchase we will be happy to assist.

No refunds will be given to bookings outside of the 14-day initial refund period. Classes can be booked many months in advance and any late cancellations could mean that places have been denied to other students. While we are unable to offer a refund, if you realise you have made a mistake in your booking outside of the 14-day initial refund period, we may be able to transfer your booking to another date, if one is available at that time. This will be at the sole discretion of Mr Baker’s Cake School. You may wish to take out insurance to cover any unforeseen events that may prevent you from attending your class at Mr Baker’s Cake School.

If you or your child are booked onto a class and we need to cancel it (due to ill health or other unforeseen circumstances), then Mr Baker’s Cake School will offer an alternative date for the cancelled class. If this is not suitable for you, then a full refund will be given. We strongly advise taking out appropriate insurance to cover any losses relating to the cancellation of a class as Mr Baker’s Cake School takes no responsibility for loss of accommodation or travel costs – only the cost of the class will be refunded. By continuing with the purchase of your class, you are accepting our terms and conditions and understand that you cannot claim for other costs such as travel and accommodation or anything else in relation to your booking other than the cost of the class.

Food Safety

Mr Baker’s Cake School is a real working kitchen, meaning that kitchen safety and food hygiene are incredibly important. The law requires that in all food businesses, “No person suffering from, or being a carrier of a disease likely to be transmitted through food or afflicted, for example, with infected wounds, skin infections, sores or diarrhoea is to be permitted to handle food or enter any food-handling area in any capacity if there is any likelihood of direct or indirect contamination.“ As such, any person so affected and present in a food business, and who is likely to come into contact with food, is to immediately report the illness or symptoms. If you or your child are suffering from any illness that affects your/their ability to work with food, then you are legally bound to report this to Mr Baker’s Cake School and remove yourself or your child from the class immediately.

Safety and Behaviour

Similarly, if your behaviour or the behaviour of your child is risking the ability of the business to operate in a safe or hygienic manner, then Mr Baker’s Cake School reserves the right to remove you from a class and/or refuse admission to follow up sessions, when a block of classes has been purchased. No refunds will be given in these instances.

In the event that the behaviour of your child is risking their ability to continue with a pre-purchased block of sessions, such as a half-termly After School Club or a Holiday Playscheme, then we will endeavour to inform you as soon as is possible – this may be in the form of a telephone call during a session or via a conversation at the end of a session.

Late Arrivals

Please ensure you plan your journey ahead of time as local roads can get busy, particularly during peak times. We do understand that sometimes delays can happen, so please try to let us know as soon as you realise that this may be a possibility. Please note: we will not be able to admit anyone to a group class more than one hour after the advertised start time, as it is unlikely that you will be able to catch up and you could detrimentally affect the enjoyment and learning experiences of the other students. Under such circumstances, we will not be able to offer a refund or an alternative date.

If you are attending a private or one-to-one class and are running late, please let us know as soon as possible. Any time missed at the start of your private or one-to-one class will be forfeit.

Designs Taught in Class

You are free to replicate any skills or designs you have learned during our classes on your own cakes. However, you are prohibited from using our designs and content in any subsequent class that you may run or wish to teach in the future. I highly encourage developing your own skills for teaching purposes.

Transportation of Cakes/Baked Goods

You are solely responsible for the safe transportation of your completed bakes and cakes. Mr Baker’s Cake School will supply you with an appropriate box for transportation and we advise that this should be transported flat in the boot of a car or in an empty footwell (ideally with some non-slip matting underneath the box).

Personal Property

All personal property brought into Mr Baker’s Cake School is done so at your own risk. We take no responsibility for lost or stolen property while you are in our premises or after you leave. If you choose to park on site during your class, you also do so at your own risk. We take no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur.

Video and Photography during Classes

Please ask permission before taking photographs during a class. Any photographs taken to aid your learning should not be shared on social media. Please note: we do not allow the taught portions of classes to be videoed under any circumstances.

Similarly, we will regularly take photographs during and after classes for celebratory and promotional purposes. These photographs may be used to advertise future classes and shared on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and here on mrbakerscakeschool.co.uk. If you would prefer not to be photographed for any reason, simply inform us at the time.
