Meet Mr Baker…

As the award-winning cake artist, baker, writer, blogger and digital content creator behind Mr Baker’s Cakes, I am passionate about all things sugar (although I do love a good savoury bake too).

Growing up in a family where home baking was an everyday occurrence, I quickly discovered an early love of cooking and baking, watching in awe as my grandmother whipped up everything from homemade jams and preserves, to Christmas cakes, puddings and even more besides.

This definitely ignited a lifelong passion for the culinary arts and it gives me so much pleasure to now be able to share my passion – and my favourite recipes – with you all.

Having worked in education for nearly 15 years, I love being able to help people develop their skills and creativity and I am a firm believer in the idea that we are never too old to learn something new.

In fact, although cookery and baking have been a lifelong passion, I only discovered the wonderful world of cake decorating about ten years ago. I quickly fell in love with the limitless creativity offered by this new hobby, but could never have imagined how much it would change my life!

Over the last few years, I have been juggling both my career in education and my other career: producing cooking, baking and cake decorating content for a whole variety of brands, organisations and media outlets, including Renshaw, Kenwood, BBC Food, Cake Masters magazine, Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft magazine, Baking Heaven, etc.

However, it was when the country went into lockdown in 2020 that things really exploded. Suddenly my online learning experiences were receiving huge amounts of local and national press coverage and things have continued to develop from there…

As a result, I now regularly demonstrate at food festivals and trade shows all over the UK, I continue to work with a whole variety of brands, organisations and media outlets and I even host a weekly cookery show for children, in partnership with Kenwood.

It seemed like the only logical next step was to find a way to combine both my passion for teaching and my passion for the culinary arts into a brick and mortar project, and thus… Mr Baker’s Cake School was born!
